WHICH LEVEL TO REGISTER FOR?
If you are registering for a West Coast Swing competition, you should register for the level you have achieved in the points registry. Competitors may dance in One Skill Level and One Age Level. With the updated rules, if you have pointed out of a division, you must advance regardless of whether or not you have achieved a first place win. If you believe you should be competing at a different level you can fill out a petition at the registration desk and the head judge will meet with you to determine the best course of action. Please note that if you chose to register for a division that you are not supposed to be in and you have not petitioned, you will not receive points for your competition.

Below are guidelines to help you determine what division you should be competing in:

Newcomer (0–4 Newcomer points)
This division is intended for beginner and intermediate dancers with limited competition experience.


Novice (5+ Newcomer points, 0–14 Novice points )
This division is intended for intermediate dancers with some previous competition experience.


Intermediate (15+ Novice points, 0-29 Intermediate points )
This division is intended for intermediate and advanced dancers with significant competition experience.


Advanced (30+ Intermediate points, 0–44 Advanced points )
This division is intended for advanced dancers with extensive competition experience at the national level.


All-Star (45+ Advanced points, within past 3 years )
This division is intended for advanced dancers with extensive competition experience at the national level.


Masters (no point requirement)
This division is intended for competitors of any skill level who are age 50+.


Sophisticated (no point requirement)
This division is intended for competitors of any skill level who are age 35+.
